Lazzarini Pickering Architetti

Lazzarini and Pickering Architetti was founded in Rome, Italy in 1982 by Claudio Lazzarini and Carl Pickering.

Born in Rome in 1953, Claudio Lazzarini graduated in architecture from the city’s “La Sapienza” University, where he studied with Ludovico Quaroni. Carl Pickering was born in 1960 in Sydney, Australia. He moved to Italy in 1980 where he completed his degree in architecture at the IUAV University of Venice, studying with Gino Valle, Massimo Scolari and Peter Eisenman.

The office has gained international recognition for its successes in various fields of design: from architecture to the renovation of historic buildings, from the design of restaurants and hotels to the fields of nautical design, industrial design, graphic design and branding. The studio prides itself on its multi-disciplinary nature and on the very diverse designs achieved through a confident but elastic approach to understanding and designing for complex realities. Lazzarini and Pickering Architetti has received numerous awards, including the AR+D Prize, the Compasso d’Oro, the Gold Bundesrepublik Design Prize and the Millennium Design Award.

LPA has recently completed a number of new building projects: a ten storey hotel in Sofia, a villa in Oxfordshire, UK, a villa in Roquebrune with other projects currently in construction (amongst which a 2.000 m² chalet in St Moritz, five villas in Umbria, two villas in Tuscany and a destination spa in Beirut).

The office boasts collaborations with important clients as Fendi, Valentino, Montblanc, Wally and Ferrero. LPA designed the international image of Fendi Boutiques between 1997 and 2002. Approximately eighty boutiques were built between 1999 and 2002. LPA has also designed the revised international image of Montblanc boutiques.

The office has designed the exterior styling and interior design of a number of revolutionary boats such as the Wally Power 118, a contemporary design icon.

Lazzarini and Pickering Architetti has also designed furniture for Acierno  including Isotropo (Honourable Mention Compasso d’Oro 1998). LPA has recently designed a furniture collection for Marta Sala Editions launched at the 2015 Milan Furniture Fair as well as custom and limited edition pieces. Their recent interior design for a Falcon Dassault jet marked their arrival in the aeronautical sector (2012).
