Archiproducts Design Awards 2017: the Winners

The winners of the Archiproducts Design Awards 2017 are 90 and today we are happy to disclose their names!

With this second editionthe award celebrating the state- of-the art of international design, reconfirms the great success of the first edition. This year an even wider participation: more than 600 submitted products by 300 brands coming from more than 15 countries all over the world. Each of them of representing high quality.

The judging commission – made up of 40 international architecture studios, some of the world’s most acclaimed architecture photographers and the Archiproducts team – has made a thorough and accurate analysis, a closer examination and a quality assessment of each submitted product. Each member of the commission has worked independently on a shared voting platform indicating his/her personal vision of Design and Architecture, awarding the research of innovative, formal and materic solutions as well as the ability to define and foresee uses and concepts both for residential and contract environments.

A precious moment of reflection on the constant and unavoidable synergy between designers and companies, the award tells stories of cooperation between designers and companies, meetings encounters of people, whose stories and interaction make it possible to create objects that today represent the new chapters of the story of design and architecture.

For the category Furniture, among the categories which received the largest participation, the winners are: Desalto, this year with the ENDLESS stool by Arik Levy, with a line stretching towards the space that becomes almost virtual; Flexform with the ADDA sofa by Antonio Citterio, with simple and contemporary aesthetics; Poltrona Frau with the LET IT BE sofa by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, expressing its freedom from all formalities and conventions and paying homage to the historical song by the Beatles; Tacchini with the ROMA sofa by Jonas Wagell, reminding of the design of the Fifties with very thin metal legs and a great seat that looks like it is almost hanging.
Porro wins over the judging commission with the MATERIC table, unmistakably from the hand of Piero Lissoni.
A statuesque object opposing the absolute simplicity of its shape and the elegance of its materials. Among the winners there are also Magiswith the harmonious lines between the Italian design and the traditional handicrafts of the OFFICINA sofa designed by the French duo Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, and Kartell with the SIR GIO table in technical polymers by Philippe Starck.
Other four tables have had a great success, to IKI, designed by Marco Zanuso Junior for AdentroTWITTY, produced by the Apulian brand da a according to a project by Angeletti Ruzza Design, with an unexpected golden ceramics bird alighted on one of the legs; CONTROVENTOdesigned by Francesco Faccin for Former, and the AXY extension table, designed by Claudio Bellini for MDF Italia.

The award is a limited edition three-dimensional object in ceramics and brass made by the Spanish designers of MUT Design, that explored the anamorphic design starting from the concept of the ADA.

Inspired by anamorphic characters, the object designed by MUT plays with the concept of the perspective illusion, that cannot set the observer’s point of view aside: a cube with three faces, which does not lay on a conventional angle, but remains almost hanging on the surface, thus creating an optical illusion allowing it to be observed from more than one angle.

The faces constituting it represent the connection between designers and brands, with one face that is voluntarily missing, allowing its users to feel part of the creative and productive process”, MUT Design.
