An increasingly multifaceted and multidisciplinary panel of judges. Announcing the jurors for the new edition of the Archiproducts Design Awards
The jury for the ADA 2022 is finally public! The selection of the Winners and Special Mentions of Archiproducts’ annual award for international design excellence will be entrusted to an increasingly heterogeneous and multidisciplinary panel of 40 of the most influential names in global creativity.
Notwithstanding the new jury members and a third trophy – a Special ‘Sustainability’ Mention – as always, the seventh edition of the Archiproducts Design Awards seeks to offer a privileged look at the encounter of designers, manufacturers, creativity and innovation, and the synergies that shape objects.
Every member of the ADA 2022 jury will evaluate the participating products based on their personal visions of design, rewarding the search for innovative and sustainable solutions, the ability to define or anticipate new use scenarios, and the pursuit of a close relationship between production and design.
Yama Karim, Partner of Studio Libeskind; Ben Van Berkel; Pitsou Kedem; Edoardo Tresoldi; Francine Houben, founder of Mecanoo; Michael Anastassiades; Giovanna Castiglioni; Domitilla Dardi and the Quincoces-Dragò duo are just some of the familiar names reconfirmed for this year’s jury.
Lots of reappearances, but also many new faces.
Among the new entries: Portuguese architect Manuel Aires Mateus, founder, together with his brother Francisco, of Aires Mateus & Associados; Enrique Vela, director of Olson Kundig Interiors; designer and urban planner Dominique Petit-Frère, founder and Creative Director of Limbo Accra, a collaborative spatial design studio dedicated to architectural projects, artistic and urban installations in West African cities; architect Massimo Roj, Founder and Managing Director of Progetto CMR specialising in integrated design that has been working on flexible, efficient and eco-sustainable architecture since 1994.
And the French architecture and design studio RDAI, with Artistic Director and General Manager Denis Montel and Managing Director Julia Capp; designer and Creative Director Gabriele Chiave; American architect and designer Felicia Ferrone, founder of the FFerrone Design brand; Italian designer Andrea Mancuso, the soul of Analogia Project; Nigerian-born designer Nifemi Ogunro, whose work seeks to bridge the gap between design, social issues and sustainability, and Spanish digital artist Andrés Reisinger.
Not only architecture and design.
Also joining the ADA 2022 jury are Chris and Oliver Laugsch, founders of Welcome Beyond, the popular online booking platform for Boutique Hotels and holiday homes; and Italian illustrator Emiliano Ponzi, known for his essential, almost metaphysical style and important collaborations with international magazines like La Repubblica, The New York Times, Le Monde, The New Yorker and Rolling Stone.
The sustainability jury
Experts in eco-design and sustainability will be called upon to assess the products nominated for the Special ‘Sustainability’ Mention, an award introduced in 2021 for products that follow the logic of the circular economy. They include Boeri Architetti, Mario Cucinella, Carlo Ratti, PROWL Studio, and Giulio Bonazzi, Chairman and CEO of Acquafil. This jury will evaluate brands that have committed to minimising polluting emissions and the environmental impacts of their products throughout their entire life cycles by using sustainable strategies and recyclable materials.
