Peer develops a layered language in which history and contemporaneity meet through contrast and craftsmanship; Chiave brings a transversal vision shaped by product design, branding and creative direction; while Norm Architects approaches design as a means of restoring a central role to the senses and to everyday well-being.

South Tyrolean architect and designer Hannes Peer, based in Milan, has developed a practice defined by a sophisticated form of eclecticism, where architectural precision meets craftsmanship, materiality and narrative.

After studying at the Politecnico di Milano and the Technical University in Berlin, and working with OMA in Rotterdam and Zvi Hecker in Berlin, he founded Hannes Peer Architecture in 2009. The studio works across hospitality, residential and product design, with context, culture and emotional depth at the core of its approach.

His practice spans very different scales, from urban interventions such as the masterplan for the Baths of Caracalla in Rome to residential and hospitality projects in Italy and abroad. Recent works include The Manner hotel in New York’s SoHo and a newly completed hotel in South Tyrol, both reflecting his ability to weave history and modernity into richly layered spatial experiences.

Current projects include chalets in Cervinia, a villa in Puglia, the upcoming Hotel Aurora in Meran, a private villa in South Tyrol, a hotel in Rome and several residential projects across Italy and abroad.

Since 2024, Peer has also designed sculptural, detail-driven pieces for international brands such as Minotti and Baxter, while continuing to explore collectible and experimental design through collaborations with Nilufar, SEM, 6:AM and La Chance.

His language is rigorous yet emotional, grounded in contrast, material tactility and a deep engagement with context. This approach has earned him regular recognition on the AD100and the Elle Decor A-List.

Gabriele Chiave on the ADA 2026 Jury: design as a transversal language

Gabriele Chiave

The career of Gabriele Chiave is shaped by a view of design without rigid boundaries, built through international experience and a constant interest in the relationship between products and people.

Born in Metz to diplomat parents, Chiave has lived across Dakar, Caracas, Buenos Aires, Rome, Amsterdam and New York, before returning to Milan and Paris, the cities he now calls home. This geographic trajectory has helped shape an open perspective informed by different cultures, languages and design traditions.

His early design education in Milan was strongly influenced by the Italian masters of industrial design. In 2007, he joined Marcel Wanders studio in Amsterdam as Creative Director, combining knowledge of production and functionalism with emotion and artistic expression. Together with Wanders, he also served for ten years as co-Creative Director for Decorté, the Japanese luxury beauty brand.

Throughout his career, Chiave has overseen projects in product design, interior design, art direction and branding for international brands including Poliform, Flos, Cappellini, Baccarat, KLM, Magis, Louis Vuitton, Fendi Casa, Audi, Alessi, Christofle, Moooi, Diesel, Bentley, Mondrian and Raffles.

He also served as Global VP Creative Direction for The Estée Lauder Companies in New York, overseeing design and innovation for brands such as MAC, La Mer, Tom Ford Beauty, Balmain Beauty, Clinique, Jo Malone, Le Labo and Estée Lauder.

Today, he is Creative Director of Controvento, a multidisciplinary design collective bringing together creators from around the world, united by a shared commitment to design excellence and meaningful projects.

Norm Architects 7
Norm Architects

Founded in 2008, Norm Architects is a multidisciplinary studio based in Copenhagen, working across architecture, interior and product design.
Its practice is grounded in a clear belief: design can help re-sensualize everyday life by reconnecting spaces and objects with the essential needs of body and mind.

Across projects of different scales, the studio seeks a balance between perception, function and longevity. Natural materials, simple geometries and carefully composed atmospheres are used to engage all five senses, support the human form and create solutions designed to age gracefully.

On the ADA 2026 jury, the studio brings a vision in which simplicity and sensuality are not opposing qualities, but part of the same process: creating spaces and objects that function well, endure over time and support a deeply human experience.
