Talking to jurors. Studio Milo’s inexhaustible research

This year we’ve tasked our jurors with envisioning the future of product design. Each one of them had their own ideas to share with us and we’ve decided to collect their thoughts in a series of interviews called “Talking to Jurors”. We’ve asked all of them what they’re looking for in an entry and what they’re going to reward. Among all of their predictions and opinions, one stood out – design must be human and provide solutions that meet people’s needs. What is truly unforgettable is the product’s ability to improve the lives of everyone.

It’s time to listen to Federica Gosio and Arianna Crosetta from the Italian Studio Milo. Their secret? A neverending research.

What are you looking forward to finding in our entries and which features are you going to reward?

“Research” is one of the keywords we use to define our work and what we are looking into others. In every aspect of Design, it is for us a necessary ingredient for creating, developing and delivering a successful product and project. We are always fascinated by an unconventional use of materials, colors, shapes and the combination of the above.

Which role do you think a Design Award should have nowadays?

A Design Award is a great opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate new talents, their creativity, and at the same time, it represents an incomparable window on the latest trends in the industry. It is also an incredible source of inspiration and a brilliant sharing platform of ideas, both essential aspects of the creative process.

In which direction should contemporary Product Design go and how should it evolve to answer people’s needs?

Contemporary Design is currently putting the accent on innovative materials and sustainability. In the future we should aim at extending the product’s life cycle both by giving products a second life and beforehand by making more durable objects.

About Studio Milo

Studio MILO is a boutique interior and architectural design venture which celebrates a harmonious synthesis between the ideas and influences of its two co-founders. The partnership, which merges interior and architectural elements of design was created from the long standing collaboration between Federica Gosio, Interior Designer and Arianna Crosetta, Architect. Together, they formed Studio MILO.

With offices in both Milan and London, the name MI-LO derives from and celebrates this connection.

From the initial conception in Ibiza, Milan and London followed. Studio MILO interprets the architecture and transforms spaces into living homes.

The dialogue between architecture and design is reflected in every interior and is contemplated also in the professional collaboration with fashion and design brands, such as Fratelli Rossetti, CC-Tapis, Saba and Valdama, for whom Studio MILO creates and designs advertising campaigns, catalogues and trade show displays.
