The Founder of Mukuru Clean Stoves, the Co-founder of URGE collective and the Head of Design at IKEA bring three international perspectives on materials, processes and new models of sustainable design

Three international figures – from clean cooking to design strategy and product development – join the ADA 2026 Sustainability Jury to explore new approaches to sustainable design.
Charlot Magayi, Founder of Mukuru Clean Stoves, Alexie Sommer, Co-founder of URGE collective, and Johan Ejdemo, Head of Design at IKEA, join the Archiproducts Design Awards 2026 jury to contribute to the selection of products competing for the Sustainability Award, the recognition dedicated to products that consider sustainability as an integral part of the design process.

The ADA 2026 Sustainability Award celebrates products that integrate responsible materials and processes, circularity strategies and a conscious approach to the entire product lifecycle.

To compete for the title of ADA 2026 Sustainability Winner, companies must indicate their intention to participate in this category during the application process and provide the required documentation.

The deadline for submissions is September 14, 2026.

Charlot Magayi, Founder & CEO of Mukuru Clean Stoves, joins the ADA 2026 Sustainability Jury

Social entrepreneur and Kenyan innovator, Charlot Magayi is Founder and CEO of Mukuru Clean Stoves, an organisation developing clean cooking solutions for communities across Africa.
Her journey began with a personal experience: after her daughter suffered severe burns caused by a traditional stove, she launched a project aimed at making household cooking safer and addressing the consequences of indoor air pollution and energy poverty.

Today, Mukuru Clean Stoves has manufactured and distributed more than 700,000 clean cookstoves, reaching over four million people across Africa. In 2024, the organisation also developed the world’s first patented mosquito-repellent fuel, a solution combining clean cooking with malaria prevention.

In 2022, Magayi received the Earthshot Prize, and in 2025 she was included in the TIME Climate 100 list, recognising individuals shaping the future of climate action.
