ADA 2026: Formafantasma and Tiziano Guardini Join the Sustainability Jury
Now in its 11th edition, the Archiproducts Design Awards bring together an international jury of architects, designers, creative directors, curators and professionals from across the design industry. Alongside the main jury, the Sustainability Award brings together experts from design, research, fashion and sustainable innovation to assess products through a broader environmental lens.
Formafantasma joins the Sustainability Jury
Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin, founders of Formafantasma, are among the most internationally recognised figures in contemporary design. Since establishing their studio in 2009, the duo have developed a practice spanning design, architecture, curating and material research, working with leading brands and cultural institutions while using design to investigate some of the most pressing environmental and social issues of our time.
The relationship between design and the environment has been central to much of their research, from Ore Streams, which examines the life cycle of metals and electronic waste, to Cambio, an extensive investigation into the timber industry commissioned by Serpentine Galleries. More recently, their research into sheep wool for the National Museum of Norway explored alternatives to the synthetic foams commonly used in industrial upholstery.
Rather than focusing solely on the individual object, Formafantasma’s practice looks at materials, supply chains and production processes as integral parts of design. It is this research-driven perspective that now informs their role on the Sustainability Jury of the 2026 Archiproducts Design Awards.
Tiziano Guardini joins the Sustainability Jury
Tiziano Guardini, born in Rome in 1980, initially studied economics before pursuing his passion for fashion at the Fashion Academy of Rome, a turning point in his career. His distinctive approach, which he defines as ECOuture, combines craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability in an evolving form of couture where aesthetics and ethics coexist.
One of the defining moments of his career came in 2012 with the Pine Needles jacket, presented as part of the Limited/Unlimited project and reflecting his longstanding interest in nature and sustainable materials. Already a member of the 2025 Archiproducts Design Awards jury, Guardini has since developed international collaborations and received accolades including the PETA Couture Award, bringing his vision of conscious fashion to runways and museums around the world. In 2024, he represented Italy at Italian Design Day in Hong Kong.
The ADA 2026 Sustainability Jury
The Sustainability Jury brings together expertise from design, research, fashion and sustainable systems. Alongside Formafantasma and Tiziano Guardini, the panel includes Martin Charter, Professor and Director of the Centre for Sustainable Design® at the University for the Creative Arts; Johan Ejdemo, Head of Design and Global Design Manager at IKEA; Giulia Foscari, Founder & Director of UNA / UNLESS; Charlot Magayi, Founder & CEO of Mukuru Clean Stoves; Alexie Sommer, Creative Director, sustainability strategist, communicator and Co-founder of Urge Collective; and Ilkka Suppanen, designer and founder of Suppanen Studio.
The jury will assess entries for the Sustainability Award based on the use of sustainable, recyclable or biodegradable materials, production techniques that help reduce harmful emissions, and environmental impact throughout the product’s entire life cycle.
With entries now closed, the jury is ready to begin the evaluation and voting process. The first stage will lead to the Longlist, while the winners of the 2026 edition will be announced in November at the Archiproducts Design Awards Award Night in Milan.
