Glenn Sestig on the ADA 2025 Jury
Glenn Sestig set up his eponymous practice in his hometown of Ghent in 1997, kicking off a long, prolific career full of gentle masterpieces. His numerous works span residential, commercial and cultural architectural projects as well as product design, in Belgium and abroad. Each design always stands out for its poise and precision, as Sestig is a master at impressing in the most sophisticated, unassuming way.
The Belgian architect graduated from the famed Henri Van De Velde institute in Antwerp and collaborated with other designers, architects and artists before setting up his own studio. This spirit of interdisciplinarity and openness continued in his independent practice and his relationship with his clients. It is no surprise that distinguished creative professionals such as fashion designer Raf Simons and artist Luc Tuymans, flock to his studio with their commissions.

His approach favours subtle spatial luxury, calm, clean forms, material honesty and minimalist and modernist influences. Belgium’s 20th century architecture heritage, Sestig’s world travels and his keen eye for culture that goes far beyond the borders of the architecture discipline, all inform his designs. They are elements that have come to define Sestig’s professional path and hefty creative body of work, which balances perfectly the tightrope between function and art.
Sestig turns his hand to almost anything with the same passion, rigour and architectural prowess, a fact that has been acknowledged and celebrated by many renowned publications all over the world. Combining his strong, ever-growing portfolio and this press coverage with a regular presence at international design fairs, exhibitions and events, the architect has built a practice that is critically acclaimed and synonymous with contemporary elegance.
His latest monograph, Glenn Sestig Architecture Diary published in 2021 by Oscar Riera Ojeda Publishers, tells the story of the studio’s first twenty years.
